Biography

Dr Mohammad Tauqeer Ahmad is a consultant, specialising in Neurology at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. Dr Ahmad graduated from the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India in 1995 with a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). Dr Ahmad also obtained a MD (General Medicine) from AMU (2002). In 2006, he pursued and successfully obtained his MRCP (Int medicine) from the Royal College of Physicians, London as well as his M Med (Int medicine) from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Dr Ahmad has also received his FRCP in Edinburgh, UK (2012). Besides these, he has attained a Fellowship from the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) in both Neurology (2011) and Internal Medicine (2020). His other qualifications include a MRCPS (Glasgow).


Prior to joining Gleneagles, Dr Ahmad has worked at Singapore General Hospital, Changi General Hospital, National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) as well as Raffles Hospital. After completing his residency from AMU, India, Dr Ahmad joined SGH as a medical officer and worked in many different departments such as Internal Medicine (2003-2005), Hematology (2005-2006), Cardiology (2006) and Neurology (2006). He then moved on to become a registrar at the NNI (SGH campus) till 2011. He completed his basic and advanced training at SGH. Previously, he was also a clinical tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore. Dr Ahmad was working as an associate consultant till 2012, before joining Raffles Neuroscience Centre as a consultant. He had the opportunity to head the department of Neuroscience at Raffles (2013-2020) before joining Gleneagles.


Dr Ahmad is actively involved in both post graduate and undergraduate medical training as well as imparting knowledge to allied healthcare workers and the public. Apart from general neurology, Dr Ahmad takes keen interest in stroke, epilepsy, movement disorder and neuroimmunology. He has vast experience of treating patience of stroke with neuro-intervention. He is an active participant in many local committees and reviewer to many peer-reviewed journals related to neurology. Some of his publications include Methotrexate induced leukoencephalopathy: A stroke mimic, Reversible Hyperkinetic Movement Disorder Associated with Quetiapine Withdrawal as well as Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension with Bilateral Subdural Haemorrhage: Is Conservative Management Adequate?


Dr Ahmad has also participated in many media interviews and public awareness programmes to share his experience and knowledge with the local public on his expertise in stroke management and neurology in general. Some of his media interviews include one regarding stroke and AVERT trial which was published in the Straits Times as well as local Chinese (Lianhe Wamboa) and Malay (Bertia Harian) newspapers.


Throughout his medical career of over 25 years, Dr Ahmad has achieved many awards and recognition for his work in the medical landscape in Singapore. In 2007, he achieved the Best Medical Officer Award (SGH) while in 2008 and 2010, he was the winner for the Service Quality Partners Award. Dr Ahmad has also received the Service with Gold Award as well as the Service with a Heart Award, both in 2012.


Dr Ahmad is a highly skilled and trained doctor, especially in clinical medicine and is one to put his patients first. His interest and passion for Medicine and for bettering the lives of his patients is what makes him stand out as a doctor one can easily trust.
